Her first attempt at living there ended badly

Her first attempt at living there ended badly. Just 18 months after buying the land, a bushfire destroyed her original home. For a time, she slept in an old van and cooked outside while deciding what to do next. Eventually, with help from family, friends, and the community, she rebuilt by transforming one of the surviving outbuildings into the cabin she called home.

The finished house is small, but almost every part of it has a story. Reclaimed timber, collected objects, handmade details, and practical off-grid systems fill the property. There is no WiFi at home or a conventional plumbing connection. Solar power, rainwater storage, wood heating, a composting toilet, and a greenhouse shower all play a part. The result is not a standard tiny house, but a home shaped around the land.
